Save the Date Etiquette Everything You Need To Know

Save the Date Etiquette Everything You Need To Know
by Edna Renskers

Save the Date Cards, what are they, do I need them, how do I word them, and when do I send them? I'll answer these questions and more, to help you make an knowledgeable decision.

Save the Date Cards are announcements that inform your guests of your future wedding in order to keep your special day free. They are essential in the following situations: if many of your guests are traveling to your wedding, your wedding takes place on or around a holiday, you are planning a faraway destination wedding, or your wedding will take place in a seasonally busy or tourist locale, where the flights and hotels perhaps book up early.

They are generally sent at least 4-6 months prior to your wedding but, if you are planning a destination wedding, for example Hawaii it is strongly recommended that you send them 12 months in advance if not longer. For seasonally busy and tourist locales or on or around a holiday it is best to send them 9-12 months in advance. Your guests will then have ample time to make all the necessary arrangements needed to be a part of your special celebration and may even extend it into a vacation of their own.

Use your imagination, Save the Date Cards are not meant to be formal. There are many design options available. You can have them match your wedding invitations, magnets, brochure style, post card size, multiple layers, booklet style, you can add a picture of you and your fiancé, or embellishments to add a personal touch.

Here are some guidelines on what your cards should state, your names, date of wedding, city or town and state of where wedding will take place. Also, because Save the date Cards are a recent trend and many that have not attended a wedding recently may mistaken them for the actual invitation be sure to include something along the lines of, “Invitation to follow”, “Invitation and details to follow”, “Invitation will follow” this is usually placed at the bottom of the card. For more wording suggestions visit www.verseit.com. If you have a wedding website don’t forget to include the address for your guests to view.

If you need to keep your guest list to a minimum, make a list of close family and friends whom you want to make sure will be able to attend and mail them a Save the Date Card, you do not need to send Save the Date Cards to everyone you are inviting but, every guest that receives a Save the Date Card must also receive an invitation.

We recommend providing your guests with additional information to help facilitate their planning such as airline, car rental, hotel, information on things to see and do in the area and surrounding areas, special events, theatrical shows etc. Go the extra mile and acquire group discounts by calling specific companies and seeing if they offer group discounts.

Weddings Las Vegas Popular Ceremonies
by Randy Wilson

Are you looking for a las Vegas chapel to make your wedding dreams come true? Chances are you will find it here with Weddings Las Vegas and its many exciting options and packages to choose from. From a simple ceremony in your hotel room to a lavish affair at one of these dynamic locations, your exchange of vows will become permanently etched in the memories of everyone present as a thing of beauty that lasts forever.

Start by consulting a wedding guide to find out more about Nevada marriage laws and Las Vegas courthouse hours of operation. You also will need to know something about proof of age and identity as well as fees. Planning your wedding a couple of weeks ahead of time can provide a wide range of options for time, place, and style. Yet there are also opportunities to marry without waiting when you arrive in the Wedding Capital of the World.

Article continues below...

For an outdoor wedding, arrangements can be made for the Grand Canyon, Valley of Fire, or Mountain Air packages. Each of these allows you to enjoy the natural beauties of this scenic area along with the peaceful solitude away from city life. Or you can opt for a traditional Catholic wedding performed by an authorized priest who will meet with you before the ceremony to personalize your service.

Other cultural themes and elements can be added to the ceremony if time permits. Celtic hand fasting to unite the couple, the Spanish arras involving thirteen silver coins showing the groom’s ability to support his wife, and Hawaiian leis that join husband and wife are just a few of the many types of symbolic gestures you may wish to consider for your ceremony. Central American, Mexican, and Jewish customs have found a place in some of the more memorable wedding services performed at this las Vegas wedding chapel.

Not every wedding chapel in las Vegas is so accommodating. Some have a set service that runs a certain number of minutes and cannot be amended. Other las Vegas wedding chapels prefer to follow a prescribed format that is based on tradition. Yet many las Vegas chapels go out of their way to personalize a service for the special couple, as this one does.

Check out the many fine services offered by this great site before making your final decision on where to have your once-in-a-lifetime wedding. You can visit this chapel online at www.WeddingsLasVegas.com.

A Call for International Marriage Laws

www.weddingdazzle.com

A Call for International Marriage Laws
by Kemisola Yusuf

I recently watched a CNN programme which centred on “kidnapped daughters” (from multicultural marriages) who were unwillingly given away in marriages in Islamic states by their fathers. Usually, the fathers were from these Islamic states. While pondering over why some states still refuse women their rights to choose whom to marry, the key question I am also trying to answer is “Which international law governs inter-country and inter-religious marriages?”

The real issue is whose belief overrides in an inter-country and inter-religious marriage. Should the father dictate the beliefs of his daughter till she is 18 or should the mother? Whilst love still stands as the basic foundation for a successful marriage, marrying a foreigner with a different religion/beliefs needs a more concrete foundation – such as a signed agreement.

Some women marry male foreigners without fully understanding his background, his beliefs …and most importantly, the beliefs of his people. Some may argue that when they married their husbands, he was a free thinker. This is true especially of westernized men. However, this most likely changes when the man has to return to his roots – his people and their beliefs….and they often return home.

So, which law protects children from inter-country and inter-religious marriages? Which written law states that the man cannot take his daughters back to his roots and marry them off to whoever he wishes? Which law states that a father cannot forbid his daughters to go home and visit their mother? Which international law states that a woman forced to have sex with a husband she was unwillingly married to is pure rape? Which international law states that a woman who has her passport seized by her father is denied her rights?

As the world becomes truly global, perhaps it is time the United Nations begun to look at International Marriage laws which protect the children from inter-country marriages. However, can these children truly be protected despite the political obstacles that prevail?

The obvious answer remains that the end to “kidnapping” is the establishment of international marriage laws which countries can be held accountable for. Whilst couples await these laws, it may be expedient to sign agreements in a court of law to protect unborn children. The question, then, is “whose court of law?”

Create Beautifully Wrapped Wedding Gifts

www.WeddingDazzle.com

Create Beautifully Wrapped Wedding Gifts
by Abigail Beal

Weddings are always such special days. Gifts are often given not only at the wedding - but often at an engagement shower and a bridal shower. How can you make your gifts look special?

Many people wrap gifts for weddings in white, but this is not a strict rule by any means. You could also select gift-wrapping and accessories that complement the theme of the wedding. So a winder wedding gift could look lovely in silver paper with silver ribbon tied in a bow with a snowflake ornament as an accessory. A summer wedding gift could look stunning in deep pink paper with a thick pale pink ribbon topped with fresh pink roses (use white roses for a different look).

Another choice would be to select gift-wrap that somehow compliments your gift. Are you giving the bride and groom part of their china place settings? Select gift-wrap that has one or two of the colors from their china plates.

Different cultures have different meanings when gifts are given and received. Red is often a color used in China to celebrate weddings, and many wedding gifts in China are wrapped in red paper. In Italy, roses are a sign of love and happiness but carnations are a flower signifying a funeral. Pay attention to any special cultural meanings when you are giving and then wrapping gifts for a wedding or any other special occasion.

Weddings are a special time and with a little care and attention you can select beautiful gift-wrapping that will compliment this festive occasion.

A Wedding in the Bahamas - Part 1
by Ester Napoli

Do you envision your wedding in a tropical paradise? Perhaps you see yourself exchanging vows on the warm sand beside an aquamarine sea or sailing off into the sunset with ten of your dearest friends to enjoy a wedding feast and the spectacular scenery. If such a scenario appeals to you, a Bahamas wedding can make your dream come true

In order to be eligible for a legal Bahamas wedding, you and your partner must spend one day in the Bahamas before submitting an application for a marriage license ($100). You must provide a photo ID. If you are widowed, you are required to provide the death certificate of your spouse; if you are divorced, you must provide a document proving that you are legally divorced. You will also need to have proof of your arrival date in the Bahamas (your Bahamas Embarkation Card will do). It is recommended that you obtain a copy of your wedding certificate before you leave the Bahamas. It can be mailed to you if time is an issue but delays and complications have been frequently encountered. Once you arrive home, you will need this marriage certificate in order to obtain other legal documents.

6 Common Marriage Mistakes

www.WeddingDazzle.com

6 Common Marriage Mistakes
by Tapan Sarkar

Every marriage starts with a lot of hope and dream about life long association filled with love and togetherness. But very few marriages fulfill the hopes of the participants in totality.

There are various reasons for this but here we single out 6 of those. Every young person who is planning marriage should be aware of these most common pitfalls.

1. Marrying for the sake of love without first checking the depth of love.

No denying that all relationships start with a sense of love and mutual liking. Committing to a long term relationship like marriage solely on the basis of that feeling of love is a mistake. Because most of the time this kind of feeling is superficial and can not pass the test of time. Romantic feeling dies as time passes and far more important issues like 'family background', 'values', 'religious faith', 'financial stability' raise their head, and these issues are of real importance which almost every body with feeling of mutual love ignore.

2. Marrying someone who does not share an interest or hobby.

While marriage with a person who does not share an interest or hobby does not itself make the marriage unstable, presence of such an interest or hobby can make life more enjoyable for both the partners. And this can make a real difference so while selecting life partner this aspect must be taken into account.

But for some reason or other this aspect is often overlooked before marriage. And efforts start after marriage to adapt the partner to one's own interest or develop a new common interest. While that is not an impossible task, the process of adapting may become un- palatable and may lead to unstable marriage.

3. Not knowing what questions to ask for checking compatibility.

As discussed earlier that marriage decision based on initial sense of love may be counter productive. To make a marriage successful one should do some simple homework. Knowledge of future partner's background and certain other things can play a crucial role here. But many young persons either do not try to know all these important facts or do not know what are important aspects s/he must know to make their marriage successful.

4. Thinking proper and careful quarries may offend her/him.

One may think that too much investigation about future partner's background may not be a good idea. As the other partner may find it distasteful. This kind of thought process keeps many young man and woman from asking the right questions before marriage.

5. Depending too much on a friend or relatives recommendation.

A sizable number of young man and woman often get married on the recommendation of relatives or friends. While generally relatives and friends are regarded as well wishers, marrying on their recommendation is not a good idea. As their knowledge of a person can never equal to the knowledge the person has about herself or himself. So the person to be married is in a much better position to select compatible life partner. Best way out is acting on their recommendation only after successful completion of compatibility check.

6. Getting married to make somebody else happy.

Sometimes people get married to make someone else happy. It may be parents or it may be relatives. There is no problem in making someone happy if that does not jeopardize one's own marriage. But most of time in such cases marriages occur without exercising enough caution. As a result one may end up marrying someone not compatible.

If you are really serious to make your marriage an exciting, loving and enriching experience you need to be careful about the above things before your marriage.

Best of Friends Now and Always Gifts for the Bridesmaids
by Jessica Rosenzweig

(BNN) The tradition of the bridal party began in ancient Rome with a bride selecting close friends and relatives to accompany and protect her on the journey to the marriage ceremony. Times have changed, of course, and while bridesmaids have less of a bodyguard role these days, their participation is no less important.

Bridesmaids offer faithful support and generous advice as wedding plans take shape. As a remembrance of her cherished friendship, the thoughtful bride always presents each bridesmaid with a gift as an expression of esteem, love and gratitude.

Jewelry and accessories will always be a reminder of that special day and treasured for a lifetime. They also complement and enhance the bridesmaid’s dress.

Diamonds, still a girl’s best friend, add dazzle to bridesmaids’ dresses. Diamond Essence, one of the world’s best-known makers of artificial diamonds, has exquisite simulated stones. A stunning 2.0 carat pendant on a 14K gold chain is $69 and 2.0 carat studs set in 14K gold are $45 at www.diamond-essence.com/bridal.

Personalized jewelry is also an enduring gift. Lillian Vernon’s sterling silver bracelet with a heart charm can be engraved with a bridesmaid’s monogram, including engraving for $20 at www.lillianvernon.com. Ross-Simons engraved sterling silver locket on a black silk cord brings a dash of romance to a bridesmaid's neckline. Inserting a picture of the bride and bridesmaid personalizes it even more. Including engraving for $60 at www.ross-simons.com.

Dainty pearl and crystal earrings accent dressy, swept-up hairstyles. $45 at Fortunoff. If the bride registers at a Fortunoff store, she also receives a 10% discount on gifts for her wedding party. www.fortunoff.com.

Bridesmaids will delight in luxurious pashmina shawls sprayed with Swarovski crystal beads in soft lilac, pink, champagne or black. Wear to the wedding and for years to come! $119 www.pashminaboutique.com.

A Bridal Shower Invitation Should Be Attractive and Stylish

www.WeddingDazzle.com

A Bridal Shower Invitation Should Be Attractive and Stylish
by Mike Yeager

A bridal shower invitations should lay out all of the necessary information, yet still be attractive. One way to do this is to have a picture engraved on the invitation. Ask your engraver to add a small design on the inside of your invitation or wherever you have information about the reception. If, for example, an ice cream social is your theme see if there is an ice cream cone or Sundae dish they can emboss onto the paper without taking away from the main body of the invitation. Remember that subtlety is stylish; you don’t want to come across as overpowering with your theme.

It may be difficult sometimes to know who to invite to the bridal shower. As a general rule, the bridal shower hostess or hostesses should invite female family members of both the bride and the groom. She should also invite close female friends of the bride and the bride's family. She may also want to invite some of the bride-to-be's co-workers. She should be sure to consult with the bride when compiling the guest list. Try to organize the people invited so some will set up the bridal shower game, someone else will set up the bridal shower favor, and so on. Not everyone invited to the wedding needs to be invited to the shower. However, those invited to the bridal shower are normally invited to the wedding.

Information needed on a Bridal Shower Invitation

The bridal shower invitation should include the name of the bride to be, the date and time of the shower, and the address and phone number of the hostess/hostesses. If you are concerned about the attendance at your bridal shower, consider including on the invitation a deadline date for the RSVP; usually about two weeks prior to the shower date.
